"Caring for children in the developing world has provided me with some of the finest experiences of my life. I have worked with many volunteer organizations, but none more effective than Operation Rainbow."

--Dr. Dave Atkin.
Surgeon, San Francisco Operations

OPERATION RAINBOW, INC.
Operation Rainbow envisions the world’s children, free of physical deformities, living lives filled with hope and joy.

We are dedicated to a twofold mission:
1. Providing free Plastic and Orthopedic surgery to children who do not have access to care, in the United States and across the globe.

2. Providing continuing education to international health care providers to encourage medical self-sufficiency.

Operation Rainbow, Inc. was founded in 1978 by William B. Riley, Jr., M.D. in Houston, Texas. The organization is headquartered in Houston, Texas with an additional operation in San Francisco, California.

Operation Rainbow volunteers and donors are proud ambassadors of goodwill-not only to the patients themselves, but also to their families, their communities and, in a broader sense, to their homelands.

To date, Operation Rainbow has treated more than 7,000 children in various areas of the United States and in medically underserved countries, world-wide. Because of volunteer programs and the generous support of gifts from physicians, nurses, medical supply companies and individuals, Operation Rainbow has provided $60,000,000 in surgical services for less than $3,900,000 an outstanding service/cost ratio and superior non-profit stewardship.

The positive influence of Operation Rainbow on medical education and training is a lasting one of inestimable value. In conjunction with each child treated domestically and with each surgical mission, volunteer teams also teach their colleagues state-of-art techniques that enhance the quality and continuity of patient care and promote self-reliance.

Detailed evaluations of the outcomes of each mission trip and each child treated are reviewed by mission team leaders and members of the Board of Directors of Operation Rainbow in order to assure quality standards and the meeting of mission goals. In the long history of Operation Rainbow, mission results have far exceeded expectations, a track record of the highest achievement and merit.

OPERATION RAINBOW, INC. IS A 501-C-3 NON-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION WITH A 25 –YEAR HISTORY OF HEALING SEVERELY DEFORMED AND CRIPPLED CHILDREN. (View exempt status IRS Rule and Agreement document - PDF file)
